COPPA Notice for Parents

This page is our direct notice under 16 CFR §312.4(c). It is also sent to parents by email before any child information is collected.

1. Who we are. sqiigl, a kid-safe search engine for ages 5–12. Privacy contact: privacy@sqiigl.com.

2. We want to collect the following information about your child (only if you create a parent account and consent):

  • A nickname you choose (not your child's real name).
  • Your child's age band (5–7, 8–10, or 11–12).
  • A record of searches and items viewed inside sqiigl, so you can review them.

We do not collect: real names, addresses, phone numbers, photos, geolocation, contacts, audio or video, or persistent identifiers used for ad tracking.

3. Why. So you can review what your child is exploring, set preferences, and delete anything you don't want kept.

4. We will not disclose your child's information to third parties for marketing purposes. We send search text (no identifier attached) to Wikipedia, TMDB, ESPN, Firecrawl, and the Lovable AI Gateway to produce kid-safe answers. We store data on Lovable Cloud (Supabase).

5. Your rights. You can, at any time, in the parent dashboard:

  • Review the information we have collected about your child.
  • Delete some or all of it.
  • Refuse to allow further collection (revoke consent).

6. How we verify your consent (FTC "email-plus"). When you sign up: (1) you click a confirmation link in an email, and (2) we send a second confirmation email 24 hours later. Child-data features unlock only after step 2.

7. Anonymous use is always available. Your child can use sqiigl's search and content features without an account, and in that mode we collect no personal information from them.

8. Operator. sqiigl is the operator responsible for this notice and the COPPA-covered information.
